The HandShoe Mouse is an innovative ergonomic mouse designed by the Erasmus University Rotterdam (the Netherlands), with the underlying research confirmed by Hasselt University (Belgium). Tens of thousands of HandShoe Mouse users are now working pain-free across the globe. The mouse has been tested by organisations such as the Dutch Tax Authority, where many employees suffering from RSI symptoms due to intensive mouse use returned to work with the use of the HandShoe ergonomic mouse.
The unique shape of the HandShoe Mouse allows the hand and wrist to move without strain. The hand rests on the mouse at the ideal 25-degree angle and the user no longer needs to “grip” the mouse due to the special ergonomic form. University studies reveal that the HandShoe Mouse aids in the prevention of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) and/or Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) and/or Neck-Arm Syndrome. This mouse is held in a different fashion than its counterparts. The hand, thumb and fingers are supported in a safe, comfortable position. Friction between the hand and desk is also eliminated. The special mouse keeps the wrist from bending as much to the side while the forearm also turns inward to a lesser degree (Schmid et al., 2015). This means that muscle activity in the forearm is less than it would be when using a conventional mouse (Quemelo & Vieira, 2013).
